The aesthetics employed by Rosle create a beautiful item that not only does its job but looks great while doing so. Chef Craft 10" Splatter Screen 21006 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for use with an 8" Teflon pan on a gas stove. But it turns out that it's not made of Stainless Steel. It's just plated. The part of the screen that extends beyond the pan is heated by the gas flames and loses its plating. Then when you clean it in the sink it can rust. See the photo I posted.
I think if you have an electric stove or a hot plate, they might be able to work without getting rust. So maybe it's worth using in that case.

(More customer reviews)I am the cook in the family and saute 90% of the meals. I have a nice stove and like to keep it clean. This screen has a very fine mesh so most but not all of the stuff simmering in the pan stays in the pan. Some very fine droplets get through but that is so much better than coating my stove with whatever I am cooking! The screen is stainless and after being used hundreds of times, it still looks good. These screens tend to discolor a bit with age but it is not rust. You can spend $50 for a real shiny fine mesh screen that might not tarnish a little but why would you. This screen does a nice job at a modest cost. The "feet" on one side allows it to rest on the counter in a raised fashion. A winner.

The handle does not fold down so this makes it cumbersome to fit neatly into cupboard along side pots & pans (where you would want to keep it for use) I choose to go with the flat (no handle) silicone splatter shields instead. They come in different sizes and clean up very well.

9 Inch Splatter Screen Review

(More customer reviews)After using this screen for a couple weeks, I noticed a ring of rust around the edges. I used the screen on an 8-inch Teflon pan on a gas stove. Part of the screen extends beyond the edge of the pan and gets heated by the gas flames sometimes. I think this damaged the plating and it started to rust after cleaning it in the sink. I assumed all splatter screens are Stainless. They are not. See the picture I posted.
I think if you have an electric stove or a hot plate, it might be able to work without getting rust. So maybe it's worth using in that case.

Starfrit 93038 Silicone Splatter Screen Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a new splatter screen recently. Mine got damaged in a move and I needed to replace it.
After researching I decided that using a silicone one made the most sense because of the cleaning. I looked around on Amazon and found several ranging in price and sizes and even though this one didn't have any reviews I decided to try it out.
I think I first got to use it just a couple days after receiving it while making spaghetti sauce. It was exactly what I needed and way better than the old metal one I had before. The clean up was just a quick rinse with a bit of soap and it's ready to go again. The kids even put it in the dishwasher and it came out just fine.
The size is probably larger then I need, but it doesn't affect it's ability to do the job. Across it's about 12 1/2 inches and from handle to top it's around 20 inches.
I like it enough to keep on the look out for more Starfrit products and came across these which I will probably be ordering soon. I like that several are currently included in the 4-for-3 sale too!

Alegacy SS8 8 5/16" Fine Mesh Steel Splatter Screen Review

(More customer reviews)I didn't think they made these any more. I don't know why the other screen makers think that no one ever uses a skillet smaller than 10 inches. "Are you listening All-clad, Cuisipro, OXO, Amco etc?
This screen fits my 8" skillet perfectly with little overlap. I can use it on a burner with another pan next to it. It has a steel frame with an expanded metal mesh made of aluminum. It blocks splatter without trapping steam. I took a chance and bought three of these. I'm glad I did.
The screen I used for years was just like it except my old one had a plastic handle. I finally had to toss it after leaving it on a gas burner.
They also have screens in a larger size. Alegacy SS10 10 5/16" Fine Mesh Steel Splatter Screen.
I recently bought a Cuisipro Cuisipro 11.5" Splatter Guard which I gave three stars. It's too large and too expensive. The Cuisipro may be more durable, but my old screen lasted 15 years.Given a chance to do it over again, I'd buy the Alegacy product instead of the Cuisipro... Or any other of the other brand name screens.
