I'm beginning to wonder whether any of these were shipped correctly. I just called customer service and was told a replacement would arrive before the 24th. I'm not real confident that I will have it in time to give it as a Christmas gift as I had intended. I have not begun the return process yet, and based on the previous reviews, I'm not looking forward to it either. I would STRONGLY DISCOURAGE anyone from ordering this item from this site.

Deluxe Squeezo Strainer Review

(More customer reviews)We bought the Squeezo Deluxe second hand to deal with our ever increasing quantity of tomatoes. It's many years old, but still functions like magic. Overall, I can't believe that something being produced for so long, without change, is still so good. (I guess you don't mess with a good thing)
Using the product is easy. Mount it on the table, and set one bowl out for the juice, and one out to collect the fibrous parts. Cut whatever you're wanting to juice/sauce into chucks small enough to fit down the chute (which is pretty good sized), and crank away at a reasonable pace. It's easy to turn, and you will see the juice coming out through the screen and down the ramp. If the pulp still feels wet, just run it through again. When done, pop the parts apart, clean, and lay out to dry. The hopper is large, so you aren't constantly having to feed stuff in.
The entire construction is metal, so this thing lasts a long time. The parts are pretty easy to clean, and if you have any parts break, you can still buy all of the individual pieces through the current manufacturer (it changed hands a while back).
This style also benefits in that unlike many of the motorized strainers/juicers, this doesn't heat what you're trying to strain, so the nutrients stay in the food. The benefit of the Deluxe model is that you get the additional screens along with all of the standard parts.
If you are looking for something to help with saucing, juicing, etc., the Squeezo is what you want.

All I had to do was quarter the apples and cook till soft and run them through. This worked so well, the kids even joined in. It at times would start pushing the sauce out of the scrap end, but I removed the screen and cleaned it and we started again.

(More customer reviews)This strainer is perfect because it fits the kitchen sink drain to a "T"; it doesn't slide around. I've had it for about 3 years now and it looks nearly like new. It will never rust and there's no coating or paint to wear or chip off since it's stainless steel. Also, it's fairly heavy duty so I don't think that under normal use it will ever dent, either. It's easy to clean (just like any dish) and food doesn't get caught in it and stuck like it does in those screen type strainers. It's perfect!

Bought it for tomatoes to make sauce and juice, but after reading booklet found out other uses such as raspberry juice (we use for homemade ice cream) I used to strain the berries through cheese cloth and clean pantyhose to get out seeds, but with this not only do i get clean juice but more of it as you can reprocess the "waste" several times. I would highly recommend this item. Save yourself the trouble and just buy the extra screens when you purchase the base kit.

I simmer quartered apples - seeds, cores, peels, and all - until tender, then send them through the strainer. In minutes, I have fresh, hot applesauce. The refuse is expelled through the end and into another bowl, so you never have to worry about all that peeling and coring.
Tomato sauce? Just as easy. Fresh quartered tomatoes go in one end; the juice/pulp and the seeds come out separately. After that, it's only a matter of cooking the sauce down.

It fits the drain perfectly, is easy to clean, etc., but the paint finish will only last a few months before it begins to chip, crack and then rust....staining the sink. The PERFECT kitchen drain strainer is the same as this one, but made out of stainless steel. It's also made by "Progressive" and is model number: GT-6746. It is only a little bit more $, but well worth it. Search it out here on Amazon. I've had the stainless steel one for over 3 years and it is as good as new. It will last forever.

The only thing that makes it not a 5-star product is a small lip between the strainer mesh and the metal rim. When dumping things out of the strainer, they tend to catch on the lip and have to be fished out with your hand, which is mildly annoying.

Norpro "The Original" Grape Spiral Review

(More customer reviews)There is a gap of 1 1/2" to 2" at the back end of the grape spiral under the hopper, and because it is the spiral action that moves the matter being sauced or juiced into the spiral, all of the matter that is in the gap never moves into the spiral. The Norpro "Sauce Master (model 1951)" that the grape spiral is used in is poorly designed and I wouldn't buy it again; there are just too many flaws. The bottom of the "squirt guard tray" (the plastic discharge chute that the juice flows down to a collection bowl) is exactly 2 1/2" above the surface of what the body is clamped to. Makes it difficult and messy to dump the juice into a larger container. As with the standard spiral and any of the screens, there is the problem with the refuse falling into the sauce or juice as the discharge frequently falls into the "squirt guard tray". The discharge end of the screen makes it extremely difficult placing anything other than a small deep bowl under the "squirt guard tray", which severely limits the diameter of the collection bowl. If you look at the "220 Food Strainer and Sauce Maker" by Back to Basics (which is highly rated), you'll see that they have a clear plastic extension that attaches to the small end of the screen allowing the placement of the refuse bowl a good distance from the collection bowl, and moreover, it appears that the bottom of their "squirt guard tray" is higher off the surface that the body is clamped to, allowing for a larger and deeper bowl to collect the juice and pulp. The 2 1/2" clearance of the Norpro unit is a serious limiting factor in how much juice or pulp you can collect before dumping without spilling. The grape spiral is just a standard spiral that has been sawed off at the smaller end. The Back to Basics unit is about $20 more than the Norpro unit, but price shouldn't be the deciding factor; get the better unit.
