I know the difference between an oak veneer and a laminate. This cabinet
is made with a laminated fiber board for the top and sides. If I wanted
furniture made out of fiber board I would have purchased a Sauder product,
and saved myself a lot of money. Since this cabinet ships with only two
movable shelves (also laminated fiber board), I plan on making another
shelf out of 3/4 hardwood plywood---which is what I call a veneer.
Although this cabinet is very attractive, if the paper thin laminate ever
becomes damaged, it can not be repaired as easiliy as real wood.
