Starting with the positives, one of the wonderful things about this particular console is that you really can't tell it isn't real wood. (That is unless you look at the back of the stand which has the unfinished sides of the thick particle board). The cherry color is beautiful and the unit is very heavy and stable. So it certainly doesn't feel or look like you have a cheap piece of furniture holding your expensive entertainment electronics. The handles on the doors have a very nice rhinestone detail which to me adds a subtle touch of class. There is also plenty of storage for DVDs, VHS's etc. inside the cabinet doors and the main console as seen in the photos. The doors have a magnet on them so they stay closed properly. There are 5 legs supporting this unit which is really nice considering the amount of weight most people will probably have sitting on/in it. The 5th leg is in the center of the console which really helps add stability and that's a design touch many manufacturers will overlook. A real bonus is that the legs are adjustable for those of us with floors which are not level. I have this problem and it has been necessary to adjust the legs several times once the unit settles into the floor. It is critical that you get the level just right because this console will bow a bit at the bottom and the cabinet doors will not shut properly if it isn't leveled perfectly.
There are a few negatives though that really disappointed me and made my rating 4 stars instead of 5. The biggest negative is that parts were missing from the box! I am unsure of why this happened but unfortunately based on other reviews I have read, I am not the only one who has dealt with that very issue. For me the parts that were missing were all of the back pieces (sliding doors, etc.) I have not contacted the company about this yet but will soon so I can't comment as of now about their customer service. Another major drawback were the assembly instructions. They were awful! Most furniture manufacturers will label pieces with letters and then incorporate those letters into the instructions so it is clear what goes where. They did not do this. In fact, the instructions were so terrible that what I actually wound up doing was looking at the picture of the finished product here on Amazon and then laid the pieces out in front of me and visualized what it was supposed to look like. Once I did that, the assembly went smoothly. But trying to figure it out based on what they had shown was not working out. So I highly recommend if you buy this piece of furniture that you have good patience because there are quite a few pieces to put together. The other negative was that not all of the pieces included were the cherry wood color - some of them are black instead. The shelves both inside the cabinet door and the main unit shelves are the black pieces. The shelves going down the center of the unit where your DVD player, DVR etc. would be however are cherry wood color. I don't know why those other pieces don't match in color but since you can't tell by looking at the pictures here on Amazon, I just thought I would mention that in case it would bother someone enough not to purchase it. (I assume they're all like this and it wasn't just myself who got mixed pieces although I can't be sure of that since some parts were missing afterall)
A couple other things I'd like to mention that could be helpful to those of you who purchase this is that I recommend having an automatic battery operated screwdriver and a 5/32 inch alan wrench. There are a lot of screws involved for this assembly so your hand would get tired if you don't have some form of power screwdriver. You could probably get by without the alan wrench if you didn't have one but it did come in handy.
So overall, I do love this console and I would buy it again and recommend it to you. I just hope that all of your parts come in the box and you are able to easily figure out the assembly. Other sellers were charging almost $200 to ship this console because it is very heavy (well over 75 pounds I believe) but Amazon Prime members can get any item shipped for either $3.99 overnight shipping or free 2 day service. I've had this membership for quite awhile and it is wonderful! Can't recommend it highly enough**
