This was our "battle" as we would clean our gutters regularly, but debris would get into them and eventually cause a back up at the downspout which would lead to overflows during heavy rain. As you know it only takes a few leaves to get to the spout and clog it up, and then you get the back up water and your own private swamp in your gutters.
The Gutter Dog is basically a pipe cleaner or bottle brush that goes into your gutter and fills up the space with its wire bristles and keeps impediments from getting down into your gutters to clog them.
Since installing them over a year ago, I have had no overflow problems and have not needed to clean my gutters (usually had to do it at least 3 or 4 times a year)
There is some downside as they are visible above the line of sight of the gutter on the first floor roof and do collect debris which is usually suspended on top of the bristles which is visible, but good news is it usually dries out and blows off with a good wind. I anticipate pulling them out this fall after all the leaves are down, cleaning them off and putting them back in.
Please note, this product won't make your gutters maintenance free, there is still debris that decomposes and gets down inside the bristles, but that debris for the most part gets flushed out; however, this product does exactly the thing I wanted it to do and that is keep my gutters from getting clogged, which they are excellent at doing.
They are expensive, but I think they are worth the piece of mind knowing that my gutters wont overflow and create flow against the house.
Installation is extemely easy, they push very easily into the standard gutter, and you only need a pair of metal snips to trim pieces to fit.
