(More customer reviews)I've had this in my 1500 gallon pond for six years with no issues. It works as advertised so I can't complain about the product. If you are going to use it for a temporary or portable installation (say, for a quarantine tank or a show tank) it should do just fine. You can stop reading this review.
But if you are thinking of using it for a permanent installation, read on. Fearing that a leak could empty my pond, I was afraid to cut the pond liner. So, when I built my pond I went this route. I still chose to cut the liner, but on a side wall rather than on the bottom. At the time, I told myself that if this failed, at least the pond wouldn't be completely drained.
This was a big mistake. I don't like seeing the pipe running from this bottom drain to the side of the pond. I now wish I had done a proper bottom drain. So, don't be a chicken, like I was. Read up on how to install a proper bottom drain - take your time and go for it. The result will look much better.
