Portable / Vacuum Drain Review

Portable / Vacuum Drain

I've had this in my 1500 gallon pond for six years with no issues. It works as advertised so I can't complain about the product. If you are going to use it for a temporary or portable installation (say, for a quarantine tank or a show tank) it should do just fine. You can stop reading this review.
But if you are thinking of using it for a permanent installation, read on. Fearing that a leak could empty my pond, I was afraid to cut the pond liner. So, when I built my pond I went this route. I still chose to cut the liner, but on a side wall rather than on the bottom. At the time, I told myself that if this failed, at least the pond wouldn't be completely drained.
This was a big mistake. I don't like seeing the pipe running from this bottom drain to the side of the pond. I now wish I had done a proper bottom drain. So, don't be a chicken, like I was. Read up on how to install a proper bottom drain - take your time and go for it. The result will look much better.

Beckett 7060110 210 GPH Underwater Pump for Small Ponds, Fountains, Waterfalls Review

I am using this pump in a small pond with a small waterfall - it is a strong, hard-working pump and works just fine in this application. I wouldn't recommend it for a big pond, but for the smaller one it works great. My "pond" is only 2 ft X 4 ft and I don't have the pump turned all the way up to full force.

Pumping 210 gallons of water per hour, this small submersible water pump is great for filtering small ponds (filter not included), shooting water out fountains, birdbaths and more. Designed for underwater use, the pump features a 7.1-foot maximum pumping height for small fountains and waterfalls, and for smooth water circulation in small ponds. The spraying power is also great for pond art, as well as wide spraying over a small pool. The pump also features a direct drive, epoxy-encapsulated design for oil-free operation and little maintenance aside from the occasional filter cleaning at the screened inlet. The purchase includes a 20-foot power cord and is covered by a manufacturer 2-year warranty.
