I went on an exhaustive search for the "perfect" fireplace screen and was very disappointed in the quality and looks of the screens in the stores. I was apprehensive about ordering one without being able to see it first, but it was perfect. Even nicer than the picture, which is seldom true!

(More customer reviews)This was so much cheaper through Amazon, arrived in time (I ordered it RIGHT before Christmas), and is very sturdy and attractive. I have three curious cats, and they have yet (almost a year since I bought it) to knock it over! Just make sure you are consistent in which side you pick for the bottom, because if you have a brick hearth, it will scratch up the finish a bit when you move it around. As long as you don't flip it, it shouldn't matter.

(More customer reviews)We had to buy this to keep our retard dog from wanting to jump into the fire place and commit suicide. It worked like a charm. It is a very simple and beautiful design. The only reason I did not give it five stars is becuase the screen has some blemishes which was not worth the hassle of returing it. It is hard to see the blemishes. You have to look for them.

Metal Fireplace Screen Review

(More customer reviews)This screen is not as light colored as the picture. The metal is aged in a brownish-red colored stain except in the crevices of the turned metel there is a cream color that defines the detail nicely. The screening is much darker than the picture shows. The tiles are not in the least bit golden colored as the picture looks. They are much more muted and a nice combination of a brick color with cream and brown details. Though I was expecting something entirly different, I do like this screen. It blends well with my brick fireplace.
The screen is quite light weight. Feels a bit flimsy, but doesn't look that way. It was very poorly packaged. Wrapped only in bubble wrap with no padding. I am very suprised that it survived shipping in one piece. The legs were attached. You just fold them out. However, The piece evidently got somewhat twisted in shipping so it would not sit anywhere close to level. It was pretty easy to bend it back into shape so that it sets level.
For the money, this is a nice screen. A bit unique but doesn't overpower the room and it hides that big black opening in the fireplace well.
