Yes, roasting peppers.
In a bind and running behind, I placed it over a pair of burners and used it as a grill for blackening the skin of 12 green peppers I had planned to use for a dinner party. I thought it was ruined, but it cleaned up nicely with a soak in soap and water.
One heck of a multi-tasker!

I used to have one that wasn't stainless steel and it had flat rotary blades that would go back and forth over one another as you squeezed the lever on the handle. It rusted badly even without putting it in the dishwasher and the flour would cake up under the blades and in various other places to the point that you couldn't possibly clean it thoroughly. So after a short while all the caked flour(gross) slowed the whole thing down and eventually clogged the blades that you couldn't get to because they were between two mesh strainers. This little device is so amazing. It a simple crank that you turn with total ease and these two metal arches go around and sift your flour. It sifts every last bit of the flour so that when you're done you're really done. There is not one morsel of flour left in it. You just rinse it under the sink faucet and you're done. It's a simple design and it works. It's built quite sturdy and it's gonna last a long time. The large volume it handles is a plus on this one. I LOVE IT!

(More customer reviews)I switched to a rotary sifter years ago after taking it to the face from those sifters with the metal loop and I couldn't be happier.
But:
-The wire mesh is woven and dries slower than a cast mesh because of the extended wire interface.
-It can take a good number of sifts after the hopper is empty to get rid of everything.
-Handle stride is short and takes more presses that optimum.
-Handle is small and generally can only hold 3 fingers.

(More customer reviews)These pizza screens seem to be hard to find locally. I ordered a 14" to replace a similar pizza screen that I received as a gift some 20 years ago. Anyhow, if you like to have crisp crust identical to placing a pizza right on an oven rack, than this is what you want. The advantage of using the screen is that there is no mess left in the oven and you can also easily remove the pizza from the oven. If you like a softer pizza, than this is not what you want. The 14" size seems to be about right for most frozen pizzas.
