I didn't want him to be able to reach thru the bars and play with the blinds or get tangle in the cord. This works perfectly to protect him from any danger posed by the window or the blinds. It's behind his crib, so you only notice it if you look for it. It was easy to put together and easy to install. GREAT PRODUCT!
