This screen door works OK once installed, but the instructions were of very little help. The first step was to identify the type of sill on the doorway that you are installing it on, and in my case (a short sill) instructed me to build a "spacer" to extend 1" beyond the exterior trim. I soon realized that the included sill extension was supposed to rest on that "spacer" and that the product could not possibly work this way. I finally abandoned the instructions completely to complete the project.
In operation, the screen is pretty hard to pull across to close. I hope the retracting spring loosens up a little over time. Conversely, if you let the screen go to wind up on its own power, it certainly will, and with a resounding "slap"! To all you teenagers attempting sneak in really late at night, remember this little fact and don't let go of that handle!
A little tip- to release the door from the magnet assembly, just push out a fraction on the handle and it will easily break the magnetic hold. We've struggled with releasing the magnet until another retracting door owner let us in on that little secret.
All in all, an OK product and it's errie to have the front door wide open with this screen pulled shut. It really looks almost as if nothing is there.
