(More customer reviews)For the price, it is easy that anyone would be skeptical of this herb grinder... after 2 months, I can recommend this product, but there are definite 'cons' to consider so please read on.
My particular product's "official" name is "Sharp Crusher" - or at least that's what its etched logo on the lid says. Obiously, we are looking at a "Space Case" knock-off. I mean, do you know what one could buy with the money left-over? ;)
From a price stand-point, this grinder CANNOT be beat. Hands down, end of story... for those who do not have a grinder or own a crappy one like I did before this (ceramic with metal rods as the teeth) AND are on a tight budget, then stop reading this and just order it. You will not be disappointed.
The craftsmanship here is impressive. I consider myself to be somewhat well-versed in the machining process of commercial products and I can tell that the low price does not reflect the above average quality that you find here. In fact, a friend of mine has a much more expensive grinder and he mentioned that he liked mine for its screen being attached flush to the inner walls of the chamber. I use mine regularly and have NEVER had to deal with any metal shavings, the magnet not doing its job correctly, or unsatisfactory cuts. Besides the somewhat cheesy logo (which is thankfully on the small side), this grinder is worthy of display. Don't let its light weight fool you... this is precision machine cut, aircraft-grade quality, brushed aluminum with a fine, sturdy screen.
I was able to scrape up my herbal "droppings" of after, well let's say an ounce, of usage... the scant collection was definitely enough to appreciate, but no where near an amount worthy to be pressed, used in cooking, or planning parties around, know what I mean? Noteworthy is the included teeny-tiny plastic scraper that came with the grinder. What a surprise that this otherwise cute toy for a Lego figure was! Surprisingly useful (my friend's more expensive brand did not come with one)... kudos to those involved in this simple, yet fruitful, idea!
Here's the con: If you don't mind spending a bit more, find one with more holes. Sometimes it seemed like there were more crystals in the grinding chamber than anywhere else. Obviously, the last chamber is going to be the most filtered, but I still believe that having more holes is well worth spending the extra money. Although I am very pleased with this purchase and it blows away my older grinder (which I still paid twice the amount for), after 2 months of ownership I kind of wished that I went for one with more holes.
